A traditional stucco wall consists of multiple coats of cement, sand and lime mixture trowelled
onto a metal support lath or directly over pre-existent masonry.
Cracking as a result of setling or the expansion and contraction of the framing it rests on is
the most common problem associated with stucco. It can be patched but getting an exact colour match
with the weather-faded original is virtually imposible.
But, like wood, stucco can be painted periodically to give your home a revived appearance.
Today stucco has been generally replaced by stucco-like finishes, which most often are created
with exterior insulation and finish systems “EIFS” also known as syntetic stucco.
EIFS are multi-layer system that include insulation, water-proofing, drainage channels and
fibre-glass mesh embedded in an impact-resistent base coat and with acrylic finish.
Builders and homeowners like EIFS for the versatility they offer. They can be shaped to form
seamless architectural features like windows sills and curved walls, and the finish layer can be
textured with anything from a dimpled to a pebbled surface in almost any shade.
And, like old stucco, it can be painted or recoated as your tastes change.

Art stucco decorative finishes, murals and art panels are one of todays most sought after wall finishes
with an old European look. As part of traditional decoration for both interior and exterior in the
Mediterranean area, art stucco decorative wall finishes are made of natural ingredients, same as those
used by Romans 2, 000 years ago. They consist of a mixture of sand and limestones colored with natural
pigments and are identical recipes with those used by Renaissance artists for centuries.
Traditional stucco or also called original stucco has a low mechanical resistance. For this reason we added
cement to the mixture in order to give the necessary mechanical strength so it can be suitable for exterior
applications also, and last for a lifetime.
Art stucco is very difficult to damage, is water resistant, abrasion resistant and fire retardant. It can be
applied on virtually any hard surface; most common applications are on brick, cement blocks, and plywood.
Canadian Stucco can use art stucco techniques to create amazing murals, hanging art panels with a multitude
of color tones, mixture of textures and styles, capable to satisfy the most exigent taste of prospective clients.
